Sunrise Sedona Elopement with Grand Canyon Sunset Vows

Oddly enough, while I photograph proposals and other sessions all the time at the Grand Canyon South Rim, this is the only time I’ve ever photographed a real Grand Canyon elopement!

You can imagine how excited I was when A & B reached out, hoping to have a Grand Canyon elopement. I was even more excited when they were open to my suggestion to make it a Sedona elopement as well, and really get all the best of Northern AZ.

Grand Canyon Engagement Session at Golden Hour | Arizona Engagement Photographer

I’m so excited to share this double session of these two Arizona adventurers! Allison and Zack love Arizona and wanted their engagement photos to showcase an incredible part of the state. They were hoping to do their Grand Canyon engagement session in a couple different spots. So I suggested that, to maximize golden hour light, we do a sunset AND a sunrise session! Marissa and Stephen! Two adorable humans from the Bay Area who came down to the Grand Canyon for a quick winter vacation. I’m afraid they thought it might be warmer at the Grand Canyon, but thankfully I was able to warn them before their trip that it would NOT be very warm at all. Doesn’t matter, though!! We still had a lot of fun frolicking around the South Rim and enjoyed a pretty stunning sunset.

Davis planned to propose on January 2 and he wanted to do so in a beautiful, desert-y, as-secluded-as-possible spot. I was, of course, totally on board. :D

Back at it at the Big Hole! Otherwise known as… the Grand Canyon. :) I loved this one because, being at the end of December, it was my first time seeing the Grand Canyon covered in snow! It was obviously gorgeous before, but this added a whole new element. Thank goodness for Rachael and Joe’s New Year’s trip and Joe being a romantic and proposing near the holiday! :D

Tucson Elopement at Catalina State Park | Tucson Elopement Photographer

This elopement ceremony in Catalina State Park was just the sweetest. ❤ As was the story behind it. Penny and Steve knew each other in school, but lost touch over the years and both got married and had their own families. A few years ago, Penny’s husband passed away and she didn’t think she’d find love again. But the universe had other plans.

Ahhh Arizona… it’s no secret how beautiful this place is. But when planning something in the outdoors here, one needs to remember that it can also be pretty harsh. From weather extremes to unfriendly wildlife to the pokey prickly plants. When planning your Arizona elopement, you have to take these things into account and plan accordingly!
